Pre-Law Students

Student Legal Services is dedicated to the personal and professional development of University of Florida students. It is our goal to provide students with innovative learning experiences beyond the classroom and help prepare them to assume roles of leadership, involvement and service in a global community.
The following undergraduate opportunities are available through Student Legal Services:

UF Student Legal Services offers up to 6 internship positions each semester.  There are a number of topics that are law-related to provide pre-law students exposure to the legal field.  Our office is not an academic unit so we cannot offer the internships for course credit.  However, you may be eligible to receive course credit through your college/department or the Honors program.  Contact the appropriate person there to verify whether the Student Legal Services internship qualifies for course credit and the requirements to receive credit.

To submit an application, go to our website at and select the “Apply for Services” tab.  Complete the Client Intake Form and select Interview Internship as the type of case.  When you submit the form, it will be emailed to our office.  We will call you to confirm that we received it.   We will email you a list of the internships at that time.  Applicants will be required to email a copy of their resume prior to the interview.

We recommend that you submit the application during the applications time frame specified below.  We will not set up any interviews until the listed dates.

Below are the APPLICATION DEADLINES for each semester.  Any unfilled positions after the deadlines will remain open until filled.  Please check our website regarding open positions.

**All positions are filled for Summer 2015 and Fall 2015**

FALL SEMESTER – We will accept applications from February 22nd through March 22nd.  Interviews will be held from March 23rd through April 6th.   Selections will be made by April 10th

SPRING SEMESTER – We will accept applications from October 1st through October 30th.  Interviews will be held from October 31st through November 14th.  Selections will be made by November 17th

SUMMER SEMESTER – We will accept applications from February 1st through March 1st.  Interviews will be held from March 2nd through March 16th.  Selections will be made March 20th.

Reception Desk Volunteer

The students assist the two assistants with general office duties such as answering phones, checking in clients, copying and filing. We have limited space in the office and can only offer a small number of volunteer positions each semester. You can complete and submit the Student Volunteer Application. We keep the applications on file and contact interested students for interviews when we have openings.

Pre-Law Shadow Program

Pre-law students can meet with an attorney to discuss going to law school and a career in the legal profession as well as make arrangements to observe the daily operation of the office and to sit in on client consultations. We would require the pre-law students to sign a confidentiality form whereby the student agrees to keep the clients’ confidences. The clients will also have to agree to the observation. Interested students should call our office at (352) 392-5297 to schedule an appointment to meet with an attorney. Please let the front desk know the appointment is for the shadow program.
