Student Involvement

Student Legal Services is dedicated to the personal and professional development of University of Florida students. It is our goal to provide students with innovative learning experiences beyond the classroom and help prepare them to assume roles of leadership, involvement and service in a global community.
The following undergraduate opportunities are available through Student Legal Services:

Marketing and Outreach Internship:

This is an unpaid internship in UF Student Legal Services (SLS) that will provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to gain marketing and outreach experience.  The intern will work with SLS staff to develop and implement marketing plans for the academic year. The position will start during the summer semester. For more information see the appropriate application form and instructions below.

We will contact selected applicants to schedule an interview for the week after spring break.

Reception Desk Volunteer

Volunteers at the front desk help with general office duties such as answering phones, checking in clients, copying and filing. This is a great way to gain experience using Outlook, Excel and other software programs.  Volunteers also help to promote our office at tabling events and other outreach activities. We are now looking for new volunteers for the Front Desk for the Summer and Fall!  Please submit the online application under the tab that says Apply For Services on the home page and also complete and submit the Student Volunteer Application. You may scan and email this to us or bring it by the office. We keep the applications on file for two semesters  and contact interested students for interviews when we have openings.

Pre-Law Shadow/Professional Mentorship Program

Students considering a career in law can meet with an attorney to discuss their career goals and to gain practical insight into the legal profession.  The attorney will act as a mentor to the student to help ensure their continued professional development in the law field.  The student can arrange to observe the daily operation of the office and to sit in on client consultations with any of the program’s attorneys. The program allows students unique access to four different attorney perspectives and experiences in an applied, professional law setting. In order to participate, we require the student to sign a confidentiality form whereby the student agrees to keep the clients’ confidences in the utmost secrecy, pursuant to Florida Bar rules. The client participants must also agree to the observation. Interested students should visit our website, www.studentlegalservices.ufl.edu and Apply for Services.  After approval, our office will contact the student to schedule a follow-up meeting with an attorney.
